How to Approve an LED Mirror in a Hotel Bathroom Mock-Up

A room-by-room approval method that catches proportion, coordination and service issues before they multiply across a hotel project.

Use the Mock-Up to Make Decisions, Not Just Photographs

A hotel bathroom mock-up is the last inexpensive place to find a repeated mistake. The mirror may match the concept image yet feel too low above the tap, crowd a shelf or reflect an unwanted ceiling fixture. Bring the architect, operator, contractor and purchasing representative into the same review so visual, operational and supply questions are settled together.

Prepare an approval sheet before the meeting. It should identify the room type, mirror model and size, drawing revision and open decisions. Without that sheet, comments such as “raise slightly” or “light too cool” are easily remembered differently by each team.

Review the Guest’s Route Through the Room

Enter the room as a guest would. Check the first view through the bathroom door, then stand at the basin, use the tap and reach for towels or amenities. A mirror that looks centered on an elevation can feel off-center once a wall-mounted tap, tissue holder or open door is included.

Review more than one likely user height and confirm that the useful reflective area works for the intended guest profile. The aim is not to invent a universal mounting height; it is to approve a position based on the actual vanity, basin, room type and project requirements.

Test Every Lighting Scene

View the bathroom in daytime, nighttime and any guest-room lighting scenes the operator plans to use. Check whether the mirror control is easy to understand and whether the room returns to a sensible state after power is interrupted. Record the exact sample configuration so the procurement team does not approve a visual effect that differs from the quoted order.

Photographs help compare later rooms, but exposure can hide unevenness or exaggerate brightness. Pair the photographs with written observations made in person and note which surrounding lights were on.

Include Installation and Housekeeping

Ask the installer to demonstrate mounting and removal while the team is present. Confirm cable access, bracket clearance and the risk of damaging tile during service. The housekeeping representative should check reach, splash-prone areas and whether nearby shelves or decorative fittings make the mirror edge difficult to clean.

These details affect the hotel long after opening. A few extra minutes spent testing a removable mirror or a cleaning route can prevent a repeated maintenance problem across many rooms.

Freeze a Room-Type Standard

Once approved, issue a concise record for each room type: model, size, mounting position, electrical arrangement, control configuration and annotated photographs. Distinguish approved changes from optional ideas. If the suite uses a different mirror from the standard room, give it a separate line rather than relying on a note in meeting minutes.

For an initial shortlist, compare rectangular, round and pill-shaped LED mirrors. Send room elevations, quantities and the planned mock-up date through the contact page so sample discussions stay tied to the project.
