LED Mirror Electrical Planning Before the Bathroom Wall Is Closed

The decisions to settle before tiling: mirror position, cable exit, switching, service access and responsibility on site.

The Mirror Decision Cannot Wait Until Fit-Out

An illuminated mirror is often selected as a finish, but its power supply is part of the first-fix work. If the vanity, mirror and cable exit are coordinated only after tile installation, a small drawing error can become an exposed cable, an off-center mirror or a wall that has to be opened again. The useful starting point is a single elevation showing the finished floor level, vanity centerline, basin or tap position, mirror outline and proposed electrical point.

Do not copy a power-point height from a previous bathroom without checking the new mirror. A round mirror, a tall pill shape and a wide rectangular mirror place their rear space differently. Shortlist the actual model first, then ask the supplier for its back view, mounting positions and cable location before the electrical contractor marks the wall.

Set Out From Finished Surfaces

Dimensions should be taken from the finished floor and the finished face of the wall, not from an unfinished slab or open stud. Tile build-up, vanity legs, countertop thickness and a raised basin can all change where the mirror appears to sit. On a repeated hotel or apartment layout, record one approved vertical datum and one centerline so every trade works from the same references.

The cable exit should fall inside the usable rear clearance of the selected mirror without clashing with a bracket, driver housing or structural fixing. This is a coordination check, not a guess. If a custom size is being considered, request a revised back drawing and do not assume the standard model's fixing pattern will remain unchanged.

Agree How the Mirror Will Be Controlled

Before ordering, decide whether the project expects control from a wall switch, an integral control, or a wider room-lighting system. The answer affects wiring and guest behavior. In a hotel room, for example, the design team may want the mirror to respond consistently with the bathroom lighting scene; in a residential renovation, a separate wall switch may be easier for the owner to understand.

Write the chosen control method in the room data sheet and in the purchase specification. If any optional function is being discussed, confirm its compatibility with the intended control arrangement rather than adding it late because it appeared in another supplier's listing.

Keep Access and Replacement in the Plan

A neat installation still needs a practical service route. Ask how the mirror is removed from its bracket and whether the electrical connection can be reached without disturbing the vanity or adjacent joinery. Leave enough working space at the top or sides for the actual mounting method. A tightly recessed shelf or tall tap can make an otherwise simple removal awkward.

The installer should photograph the concealed cable position and the completed bracket before the mirror is hung. For multi-room work, label the photograph by room number. This modest record is far more useful to a maintenance team than a generic installation photo taken elsewhere.

Use a Pre-Close Inspection

Before closing the wall, check five items together: finished mirror outline, centerline, cable exit, fixing support and nearby obstructions. The person approving the check should have the current mirror drawing, not only the architect's early concept elevation. Record any permitted tolerance and identify who will resolve a conflict before tiling begins.

When requesting a quotation, include the wall type, target mirror size, quantity and control method alongside the selected model numbers. Browse LED bathroom mirror models, then send the marked elevation through the contact page. A clear first-fix package protects both the bathroom finish and the installation schedule.
